A highly respected motorsports professional with 38 years of industry experience, Scott Atherton started his professional motorsports career as a marketing executive in the CART Series in 1985. He served as president and general manager of Laguna Seca Raceway before joining Penske Motorsports as president of Nazareth Speedway and later California Speedway. Atherton served as president and CEO of Panoz Motor Sports Group for 13 years, leading a merger between the American Le Mans Series and the Grand American Road Racing Association under the IMSA banner. Following the merger, Atherton was named IMSA president, a title he held until retirement in 2019.
